UCR International Transfer Track (UCR-ITT)

Do you want...

• Follow a pathway to graduation from UCR?
• Prepare for UCR study through a recognized and respected California institution?
• Enjoy smaller classes which will help you become a successful UCR student?
• Significantly reduce your fees for the first two years of study?

The academic requirements to enter UCR directly are very high. In California, only the top 12.5% of high school graduates are eligible for direct entry. UCR also has very high SAT and TOEFL requirements.
UCR is about quality, but it is also about access. International high school graduates who would like
to graduate from UCR but who do not meet high academic requirements of the University of
California still have the opportunity to earn a UCR Bachelor degree by enrolling in the UCR –
International Transfer track Program. The UCR International Transfer Track program is a cooperative program between UCR and selected California Community Colleges. By enrolling in this program, you begin your studies in UCR’s IEP program, where you will strengthen your English skills in order to prepare for academic study in the US. Upon completion of the top level of the IEP program, level 600, you will gain admission to a selection of California Community Colleges.
California Community Colleges are highly regarded and provide you with smaller class sizes and
individual attention. They are your best opportunity to be successful at UCR. College tuition is also
considerably less than University tuition At the community college you choose, you will enroll in a program that will ensure you have the course pre-requisites you need to successfully transfer back
to UCR after two years study. Students who successfully meet the transfer requirements can transfer back to UCR, without an SAT or TOEFL score, for the final two years of study leading to degree completion.
Conditional letters of acceptance are provided to students who apply for the Intensive English Language Program and indicate the UCR International Transfer Track pathway on their application and their choice of partner Community Colleges. Two letters of conditional admission are sent along with the acceptance letter for the Intensive English Language Program: one from our partner Community College for the first two years of study and another from the University of California, Riverside for the final two years of the Bachelor’s degree program.

Note: The initial I-20 is issued only for the length of the Intensive English Program. Upon successful
completion of level 600, you will make an application to the Community College of your choice. A transfer I-20 will be issued to allow you to further your study at the Community College. You will follow the same process when you apply back to UCR after two years.
